Maendeleo, which means “development” in Swahili, is a non-governmental organization founded in 2005 by Tanzanians studying and working in the United States. We founded Maendeleo to contribute to the development of Tanzania from the diaspora.
We focus on the medical field because growth is impossible without good health. We have seen and experienced the challenges of recruiting, training, and supporting well-equipped health professionals in Tanzania. In order to address Tanzania’s health needs, we establisehd Maendeleo to support Tanzanian medical students.
